"Dub Dub Dub"

Now that the World Wide Web is synonymous, for many people, with the Internet, a trend has emerged. TV, radio and newsprint are now filled with the ubiquitous "www.product_name.com". When this started appearing in 1996, advertisements included the "http://" prefix. Every time I heard "Aitch-Tee-Tee-Pee-Colon-Slash-Slash", I gnashed my teeth. That hurts and is frowned upon by 4 out of 5 dentists and periodontists. The prefix has been dropped as both people and browser applications began to understand it as default. Now in an attempt to shape, mold and direct public opinion, I suggest that in speech we save another 6 syllables.

I propose that, from henceforth, "www" be pronounced, "DUB-DUB-DUB".

This move has many positive effects. Verbal pronunciations of URLs will be shorter. Advertisement announcers won't sound so silly. Our jaws will suffer less from "Repetitive Stress Syndrome". It sounds better. I will be a trend setter. If you read it on the Web/Internet, it must be true. Try it. You might like it.
