Overnight Pickle Chunks

  Ingredients

Pickles

2 dozen medium sized cucumbers, washed and cut into small chunks
salt
water

Syrup

1 cup water
3 cups sugar
3 cups vinegar
½ tsp turmeric
½ tsp dry mustard
1 tsp celery seed
1 tsp pickling spices
pinch of alum

  Directions

Cover pickles with brine of salt and boiling water. Let stand overnight.

Drain pickles. Combine syrup ingredients. Boil for 3-5 minutes. Add pickles and bring to boil again. Pack in hot jars and seal.

Makes 3 pints.
